Pre and Postnatal Fitness

Exercising has many benefits on one’s physical and emotional well-being, and you shouldn’t miss out on those perks because of the beautiful changes happening inside! An optimal pre-natal program should include strength training, stabilization and endurance. Actually, exercise before, during and after pregnancy has unique qualities that can enhance each stage of the process, improve delivery and post-natal recovery.

Being active during pregnancy allows you to maximize that often limited energy and give you an edge up on some of the risks you can encounter in pregnancy. It is also very important to raise awareness around strengthening the pelvic floor thereby reducing the chance of dysfunction after delivery, which is all too common (abdominal, GI discomfort and "sneeze or cough" leaks).

So get those dumb bells out and let’s get pumped as we support your physical changes through each stage of your pregnancy journey!

*If you are NEW to training, it is not advised to begin an exercise program without the consent of your physician. There are many options to keep you physically fit without exerting too much pressure on your changing body. We would be happy to discuss these options with you.

Pre and Post Natal Fitness is available with Emma McCarney, BSc, CPT.
