Cathy Nielsen
BA(PhE)., D.O.M.P., D.Sc.Ost.
Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
Clinic Director
Cathy is a graduate from York University, completing her BA in Physical Education (1993). Her early years began with active release therapy and soft tissue massage at the YorkU Physiotherapy clinic, providing therapy to Track and Field athletes. In 2009, Cathy fulfilled the requirements of the 5 year Osteopathic Manual Studies Program at the Canadian College of Osteopathy - Toronto Campus. In 2010, she successfully defended her thesis and obtained her Diploma in the Science of Osteopathy. As a practicing therapist, Cathy opened her first clinic in the fall of 1993. Years later, she culminated another vision with Phases to create a multi-disciplinary practice. Phases Executive Fitness Studio has been operating in the North York (Yonge/Bayview/Sheppard area) since 2001.
Cathy is intentionally passionate about her work, listening to the needs of every patient and designing a unique patient orientated treatment approach to support her clients. Cathy believes that Osteopathy is as much about the relationship between the practitioner and the patient, as it is about applying osteopathic techniques. In staying true to the philosophy of the practice of Osteopathy, this means that there will always be something meaningful about every session with every single patient, no matter how many times they have been seen for treatment, or for however long the have been visiting over the years.
Osteopathy will always have something special to offer to anyone who wants to feel better physically, mentally and emotionally and it is this fact that inspires Cathy keep on growing, learning and practicing.
Fun Facts! In her spare time, Cathy enjoys outdoor road cycling (8th year with Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer), spinning, yoga, meditation, travelling and reading. In addition to raising 2 children, she is very mindful about her well-being and keeping a balanced pace in her life. Cathy is an active member of the ethics and membership committees of the Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners and has sat on the Jury to assist the Canadian College of Osteopathy in thesis research. She believes it is just as important to give back, by committing to and actively participating in, philanthropic means. She encourages everyone to seek to do the same.
